Does the turbo parts in this kit fit under the hood? It's going to be a highway tractor with a mercury bunk.

Yes they do! If you have a Diamond Reo kit that is where you will find the correct exhaust and inlet pipes. These should work with a little modification. Or Plastruct tube and elbows. www.plastruct.com, search for TB,E, EL and EF and you will find them. Their site is a little tough to navigate, but they are great to deal with (large or small orders).

I've got a few more autocar questions. 1. Who makes a old style grill and hood emblem set?I had a magazine with it reviewed, but it must of been trashed. 2.How long were the integral sleepers-just toying with scratch building one 3.Could I simply move the front springs ahead for a forward axle model,an A42TF.It might be better to get a diamond reo or western star and use that chassis, and use the left over A-car parts to convert to a set back DR or WS. I'm planning on getting a second A-car and doing some thing different with it.

Hmmm, it seems we think alike. I have a very similar project in the works, including the set forward axle. You gave me an idea I haven't thought of, with using Diamond Reo or Western Star steer axles. If you have the DR/Western Star/Road Boss kits, take the front springs out and compare them to the Autocar front springs. You can then modify the front spring from the Autocar to be the same basic length as the other one.
As for the integral sleeper, I've seen a modeler do one b4. I'm not sure how long it is, but it is shorter than a regular cab/sleeper box configuration. If you have a junked cab, it might be best to just cut it in half and work it onto the back of your good cab.
I'm not sure who makes an older Autocar grille, but if you want a needlenose, you may have to narrow the kit grille, and the hood top. I wish I could be of more help, but I do wish you luck on this project.

I found an option for building a forward axle.It was one with a diamond reo style hood with autocar style grill bars.Thought it was neat.
